When will I receive my tuition refund check?
Federal and state funds are usually disbursed to
the student's account after the third week of classes for the current
semester. The Bursar's office will not issue refunds for the current semester
until the end of the second week of classes. After the second week of
classes, if there is a credit on the student's account a refund check
will automatically generate in 5 to 7 business days. The Bursar's Office

I have turned in all my financial aid paperwork for receiving a federal
loan, so when is my money going to be awarded?
The information that you included in your promissory
note is electronically transferred to both your lender and guarantee agency.
Once they have received and verified that information they send a notice
of guarantee to the school. It usually takes about 2 weeks before this
notice is received. This notice of guarantee may also be sent to your
home. It should include the amount of your loan, the fees that will be
taken from that amount and the dates of disbursement. The money is not
available on the day that it is disbursed. It will physically appear on
you student account 3 or 5 days after that date. The total process from
when your funds have been guaranteed until they actually are on your student
account is usually 2-3 weeks.(any further questions ie: refunds see question
#1). All funds disbursed to your student account may be viewed immediately
on your Web for Students account.

I have been selected for verification. What is this and what should
I do?
Verification selection is a done at random by the
Department of Education in reference to the income and assets that you
reported on your FAFSA application. Depending on your student status several
documents may be required from you. If you are a dependent student, the
Department of Education requires you to fill out a dependent student verification
worksheet that must be signed by your parents and yourself. You will also
be required to submit a signed copy of the filed tax returns from both
you and your parents from the previous year. If your student status is
independent you are required to submit a signed copy of your taxes from
the previous year and an independent verification worksheet. You can pick
up the verification worksheet at the Student Services Center, MB Room
104. Once these documents have been submitted the financial aid process
will continue as normal.

I have never received financial aid, how do I apply?
You need to fill out a FAFSA application and submit
it to the Department of Education. You may complete your FAFSA online
at www.fafsa.ed.gov. This will
qualify you for Federal student loans and any state aid (grants) that
may be available to you. The Department of Education then electronically
submits your financial information to us. It actually takes about 6-8
weeks before we receive that information. Once that information is received
we will create a financial aid package for you. You will receive this
via mail. This package will include loans, grants, and scholarships being
offered to you from both this institution and the federal government.
You may accept or deny any offerings on the award package. Any changes
must be reported to the Office of Financial Aid immediately.

the repayment can be delayed. For instructions on how to appeal the extension
of your grace period you need to contact your lender. You also want to
contact your lender to identify the total amount in loan funds that you
will owe from borrowing while you attended this institution. You may find
out who your lender is online at www.nslc.org.
