Loan Entrance Counseling

Loan counseling is especially important to new students, who often lack experience repaying and managing debt, and continuing undergraduate or graduate students who change schools or careers. The law requires IIT to provide loan counseling to first-time Stafford Loan borrowers before the first disbursement of a loan to a borrower.

Below you will find a link to online loan counseling with Mapping Your Future. This website will give you information about importance of repayment, the consequences of defaulting on a loan, and a review of deferments and forbearances.

If you have further questions after completing the online counseling session, contact the financial aid office at 312.567.7219.

Loan Exit Counseling

Loan counseling is especially important to new students who often lack experience repaying and managing debt. For students leaving IIT, the emphasis of loan counseling shifts to specific information about loan repayment and debt-management strategies. Thus, the loan-exit counseling gives students the tools needed to repay their loans and avoid default.

Below you will find a link to online loan counseling with Mapping Your Future. This website will give you information regarding repayment options, an anticipated monthly repayment amount, the consequences of defaulting on a loan, and a review of deferments and forbearances.  Additionally, you can view your loan history on-line at www.nslds.ed.gov.

If you have further questions after completing the online counseling session, contact the financial aid office at 312.567.7219.
