All students interested in applying for federal funds for summer session 2008 must read the following and submit the information requested after registering for the required credit hours.

Undergraduate students are eligible to apply for Federal Stafford loans, Federal PLUS loans, and Federal Pell Grant for the summer semester if they are enrolled in at least six credit hours and have remaining eligibility from the previous fall and spring terms.

Once a student registers for six credit hours and submits this form, the Financial Aid Office will determine eligibility for federal aid and contact the student with the results.

Undergraduate Students

Please submit the following information after registering for the required credit hours.

Full-time Undergraduate Students
If you received an IIT undergraduate tuition scholarship (such as Heald, Camras, Presidents, etc.) in the 2007-2008 academic year, you will be entitled to the same level of scholarship support over Summer 2008.The Summer Continuation Scholarship is applicable towards undergraduate courses applicable to their undergraduate degree. The practice of accepting petitions for summer tuition scholarships on a case-by-case basis has been discontinued. Examples calculating the Summer Continuation Scholarship for students in several different situations are given below.

Student A would receive a Summer Continuation Scholarship covering 8,736/24,962 or 35% of the 2008 summer tuition charge for courses applicable to his/her undergraduate degree. So, for example, if Student A took one 3 credit hour course in the summer at $778/credit hour, the tuition charge would be $2,334; the scholarship would cover (0.35)(2334) = $816.90 of the tuition charge.

Student B would receive a Summer Continuation Scholarship covering 24,962/24,962 or 100% of the 2008 summer tuition charge for courses applicable to his/her undergraduate degree. Note that room and board scholarships are not considered in the calculation. Also note that there is a maximum benefit of 100% of tuition.

Student C would receive a Summer Continuation Scholarship covering 6990/24,962 or about 28% of the 2008 summer tuition charge for courses applicable to his/her undergraduate degree. Note that the room and board portion of a scholarship is not considered in the calculation.

Student D would receive a Summer Continuation Scholarship covering 5,000/12,481 or about 40% of the 2008 summer tuition charge for courses applicable to his/her undergraduate degree. Note that Student D is an example of a student who did not receive an IIT award in the fall. He/she could have been a part-time student or a co-op student in the fall; or he/she could have been a new student in the spring.

All graduate students interested in applying for federal funds for summer session 2008 must read the following and contact their counselor to determine eligibility.

Graduate students that wish to borrow Federal Stafford Loans and/or the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan for the summer 2008 session must have remaining eligibility from the 2007-2008 academic year. Students must borrow any remaining funds by May 1, 2008.

After May 1, 2008 graduate students will not be able to borrow any Federal Loans. The only options available to students will be to borrow a private loan to cover summer expenses.

Please note that students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours to receive Federal Loans. Please submit the following information after registering for the required credit hours.
