Undergraduate
Student Housing
In general, IIT scholarships and federal financial aid
that exceed tuition can be used to help defray living expenses
for IIT housing. Below are details outlining the financial
aid policies as they relate to IIT’s housing options.
McCormick Student Village (MSV)
IIT’s room-only or room-and-board scholarship can
be used as a credit towards living in MSV. The value of the
room scholarship will not exceed the charge for a double
room. The value of the room and board scholarship will not
exceed the charge for a double room with a 19-meal plan.
Additionally, if a meal plan with a lesser value is chosen,
the subsidy will be limited to the actual cost. Overall,
IIT scholarships and grants can never exceed tuition and
the rate of a double room with a 19-meal plan.
State Street Village (SSV)
IIT
scholarships, the board portion of the IIT housing scholarship,
and federal financial aid can be used to help defray living
expenses in SSV up to the rate of a standard double room
in MSV with a 19-meal plan. In general, IIT scholarships
and grants can never exceed tuition and the rate of a double
room with a 19-meal plan in MSV. If a student with an IIT
room-only scholarship lives in SSV, the scholarship will
be rescinded. If a student with an IIT room-and-board scholarship
lives in SSV, the scholarship will be replaced with a fixed-value
subsidy limited to the value of the 19-meal plan. Additionally,
if a meal plan with a lesser value is chosen, the subsidy
will be limited to the actual cost.
Greek Housing
Students with a room-only or room-and-board scholarship
who choose to live in on-campus Greek housing will have their
housing scholarship replaced with a fixed-value subsidy.
The subsidy cannot exceed Greek charges. In general IIT’s
fixed-value subsidy is less than the Greek charges. Overall,
IIT scholarships and grants can never exceed tuition and
IIT’s fixed-value subsidy. |
