General Registration Info
Advising
Before registration, all undergraduate students must
receive approval from their faculty adviser. All add/drop requests (except
for change of section) also require advisor approval.
All graduate students, registering for research courses
numbered 591, 594, 597 and 691 must receive electronic approval (permit or authorization) from their
faculty adviser before registration.
All graduate students are encouraged to consult with
a faculty adviser prior to registration.
* Some academic departments require advising of their graduate
students. Students should check with their respective academic departments.
Advisers may confer approval for online registration
by clearing the electronic advising hold. Approval for in-person or mail
registration must include the signature of the adviser on the student's
registration form.

Load Limitations
Fall and Spring:
The maximum study load for most students is 18 credit
hours. Armour College graduate students have a load limit of 13 hours.
Computer Science and Electrical Engineering graduate students have a load
limit of 13 credit hours. Registration beyond these limits require an approval from the appropriate
academic dean (graduate dean of the Graduate College or the associate
dean for academic undergraduate affairs). Part-time undergraduate degree-seeking
students registering for more than nine credit hours must receive approval
from the associate dean of academic undergraduate affairs. Non-degree
students registering for more than nine credit hours must receive approval
from the appropriate office (undergraduates: Educational Services; graduates:
Graduate College). Office locations and phone numbers can be searched

Summer:
The maximum study load is two courses for all students.
Registration in excess of two courses must be approved by the appropriate
academic dean. Non-degree students registering for more than two courses
must receive approval from the Office of Educational Services or Graduate
College.

Auditing a
Course
All students who wish to audit a course need to
complete an Audit Request Form and submit it to Enrollment Services (Room
104, Main Building) during the current semester's registration period.
Audits will not be accepted after the last day to add a class. (Please
see calendar for specific dates at www.enrollment.iit.edu/calendar.) An
Audit Request Form may be obtained online at www.enrollment.iit.edu/forms.
Audit request forms may also be obtained at any registration location.
An auditor must pay full tuition, cannot take examinations, and does not
receive credit for the course. After registration closes, courses cannot
be changed to or from an audit status. Audited courses do not count toward
degree requirements at IIT.
Course Repeat
All students can repeat a course for a change of
grade. All students who wish to repeat a course need to complete a Course
Repeat Form and submit it to Enrollment Services (Room 104, Main Building)
during the current semester registration period. Course repeats will not
be accepted after the last day to add a class. (Please see the calendar
for specific dates) A course Repeat Form may be obtained online at www.enrollment.iit.edu/forms.
Course Repeat forms may also be obtained at any registration location.
Specific guidelines regarding repeating a course for a change of grade
are found in the IIT Bulletin: Undergraduate
or Graduate and are also listed on the course repeat form.

Undergraduate
Approval for a Graduate Course
An undergraduate student who wishes to enroll in
a graduate course (500 level of above) must obtain the approval of both
the course instructor and his or her adviser. Non-degree-seeking undergraduate
students may enroll in a graduate-level course with permission from Educational
Services.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites for courses are found in the course
description for the course. Students must meet prerequisites to receive
credit for the course. A grad of C-, D, E or I (incomplete) in a course
taken at another institution will not transfer to the university and cannot
be used as a prerequisite.

Full-time
Status
Full-time status requires registration in at least 12
hours for undergraduate students or at least nine hours for graduate students.

How to Register
Requirements
Please note that all students requesting registration
for classes must first be admitted to the university. For information
on admissions go to admission.iit.edu.
Previously enrolled undergraduate students who are not
enrolled in the current term must apply for reinstatement through the
Office of Educational Services. Please visit admission.iit.edu
for additional information.
Please note that prior to registration, all undergraduate
students must receive approval from their faculty adviser. Advisers may
confer approval for on-line registrations by removing the advising hold
electronically. Approval for in-person, fax or mail registration may be
done through the signature of the adviser on the student's registration
form.
The schedule of classes is available on-line at on Web for Students, accessed through the myIIT portal.

Web Registration is available 7 days a week from 8:00
a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
- Consult the Course Catalog prior to registration.
The schedule of Classes is available on-line at Web for Students.
- To pick your courses go to the main menu and click
on Course Schedule, Select Term, Subject and Courses.
- To register for classes on-line, click on Login to
Student Services
- Enter Student ID (Social Security Number and PIN):
PIN 6 digit date of birth (year, month, and day - YYMMDD)
- After initial successful login change the PIN
to a self-selected number. Students are strongly encouraged to do so
at this point by going to Personal Information and clicking on Change
Pin. If you cannot remember your new PIN contact the Office of the Registrar
at (312) 567-3100 or by e-mail at registrar@iit.edu.
- Click on Registration: Select term.
- Check for holds by clicking on Registration Status.
- Click on Add a Class.
- Pick Subject: Class Selection. To register for a
class hit the Add Course button on the course.
- Repeat steps 7 and 8 for each course to be registered.
- For IITV classes students must also register for
a TV site after registering in the course. To do this students must
enter the call number of the course and the selected TV site: Submit.
Please be aware that several restrictions apply to TV site registrations.
Check the IITV section or Web site for more detailed information.
- After registering for all desired courses, click
on Student Schedule to view schedule.
- Click on Account Summary to verify account balance.
Exit.

If you are unable to register online, you may mail, fax or bring your Registration Form to one of the offices below.
All Undergraduate and those Graduate students registering

Changing Your Schedule
Requirements
Please note that students may change their registration
through the add/drop process. All advising rules apply to add/drop as
well as to initial registration.
Obtain a Change or Registration Form (add/drop form)
online at www.enrollment.iit.edu/forms, or at any
registration location.
Add/drop deadlines are listed on the Academic Calendar. A course
dropped within the first two weeks of classes is not recorded on the official
transcript. Any course dropped during the third through the tenth week
of classes is considered a withdrawal and recorded on the official transcript
as a "W" (undergraduate) or "WP" (graduate) grade. The student has the
responsibility to complete all procedures necessary to make a registration

Online
1. To add a class or drop a class from your schedule,
go to Web for Students.
2. Login to Student Services
3. Enter PIN
4. Click on Registration
5. Select Term
To add a class to your schedule click on Search / Add
Class
1. Select Subject
2. Select Course
3. Go through available sections
4. To add a course click on the ADD (CALL#) to your schedule link.
5. View Student Schedule
To drop a class from your schedule click on Drop Class
I. To drop a class go to the class you wish to
drop and click on the down arrow. This will activate a drop down menu
with the word Drop in it. Click on Drop to drop the desired class. If
no options are listed in the Action field, then the class may not be
dropped.
II. Click on the submit button to drop the desired
course.

Withdrawal
Withdrawal from a Course
Non-attendance or notification of an instructor
via telephone is not an acceptable form of withdrawal. Official withdrawal
may be done online at Web for Students, accessed through the myIIT portal.

Official withdrawal can be done in person, by fax, or
by mail at any of the registration locations listed below.

Students who do not attend class and fail to withdraw
officially are assigned an unofficial withdrawal of failing grade ("E"

Withdrawal
from the University
Students who wish to complete an official withdrawal from the university requires
the student to contact the appropriate office directly and inform them of his or her absence
for the semester.
