CTA U-Pass
Spring 2008
The CTA University Pass (U-Pass) is designed to provide transportation for college students in the Chicagoland area. Your U-Pass can be used on any CTA bus and rail system
including suburban PACE buses during normal hours of operation for the duration of the current term. The CTA U-Pass eliminates the need for cash and does not require any transfers or surcharges.
For CTA schedules, bus/train routes and maps please visit the CTA online. The U-Pass is valid for use from January 22 through May 17, 2008. Unfortunately the
U-Pass can not be used on the METRA transportation system.
Cost
All full-time Main Campus undergraduate students (registered for 12 or more academic credits) and full-time graduate students (registered for 9 or more academic credits)
will automatically be charged the U-Pass fee of $82 to their student account. This also includes students at the Rice Campus, Moffett campus and Distance Learning students. Students that are registered
for CO-OP, teaching assistants, and research assistants will not receive a U-Pass unless they are carrying a full-time academic course load.
If you are a student at Stuart School of Business or the Institute of Design please contact your campus for information regarding the U-Pass program. Students registered
at Kent College of Law or Vandercook College of Music are not eligible to participate in the CTA U-Pass program.
Any student who obtains a CTA U-PASS as a full-time student but drops below full-time must return the U-PASS immediately. Failure to do so will result in a
de-activation charge of $30.00 to your student account. Please return the U-PASS to the Office of the Registrar Monday - Friday 8:30 - 5:00 in the Main Building Room 104.
Waivers
Waivers for the U-Pass are normally extended to students who take all of their classes using Distance Learning (internet or via IITV), and who do not reside in an area served by the CTA and/or PACE. For all other students the fee is mandatory. Waivers will not be honored once the U-PASS has been picked up. Students interested in having this fee waived must request so via e-mail. Please be
sure to include your name, student identification number and the reason for your waiver in your message. Decisions regarding waiver requests will be completed after the last day to add/drop for the term – January 29. Waivers for the Spring 2008 semester will not be accepted after January 29, 2008.
